Police investigating hit-and-run crash that injured pedestrian

The 23-year-old was hit on the north side of Elkhart Tuesday night. He was reported in stable condition at Memorial Hospital as of Wednesday evening.

A 23-year-old Edwardsburg man is in stable condition after a hit-and-run crash on the north side of Elkhart.

The man was struck by a car at the intersection of C.R. 4 and North Pointe Boulevard shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 27.

He was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. His condition was critical as of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28,  but improved to “stable” by Wednesday evening, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Elkhart police declined to give a description of the vehicle that struck the man because the investigation is ongoing.
