Firefighters respond to structure fire opposite Baugo Fire Department

    The Baugo Fire Department responded to the fire, with assistance from the Concord, Osolo, Wakarusa, Cleveland and Elkhart fire departments.

    ELKHART — Several area fire departments responded to a reported structure fire at 57955 C.R. 3, opposite the Baugo Township Fire Department, late Tuesday afternoon, May 27, southwest of Elkhart.

    The Baugo Township Fire Department responded to the reported fire, with assistance from multiple neighboring fire departments, including Concord, Osolo, Wakarusa, Cleveland and Elkhart. 

    The fire was extinguished at 11:07 p.m. Only the Baugo Township firefighters remained at the scene as of 11:56 p.m., waiting for a crew to board up the building.

    There were flames emerging from the roof at 6:45 p.m. The fire was reduced to light gray smoke half an hour later, and firefighters were still spraying water on the structure. The back section of the roof caved in.

    Several signs in front of the burning building states that it houses Forrest Automotive Design.
