Family dog rescued from house fire on Elkhart's south side Sunday night

Nobody was injured and a dog was rescued after a house on Indiana Avenue in Elkhart caught fire Sunday night, May 25.

The Elkhart Fire Department was called to 1715 W. Indiana Avenue around 9:40 p.m. and found fire and smoke coming from the front room of the house and on the front porch, a press release from the City of Elkhart said.

The fire was under control within a few minutes. Josh and Matt Worman, who live at the home, were able to escape the house without injury and their dog was rescued, the press release said.

Damage to the home was minimal.
