Suspect turns himself in 6 days after 1st Source Bank robbery in Elkhart

A second suspect in last week’s 1st Source Bank robbery turned himself in Monday. Police are still looking for a third suspect.

A second suspect in an Elkhart bank robbery turned himself in to police Monday afternoon.

Steven Alexander Bonds, Jr., 21, of Elkhart walked into the police department’s lobby to turn himself in on Monday, May 12, according to Lt. Mike Sigsbee of the Elkhart Police Department. Bonds was arrested on a preliminary charge of robbery and booked at the Elkhart County Jail.

Bonds also was arrested on July 11, 2013 in connection with a string of auto thefts after he was found sleeping in a stolen SUV.

Police were called to the 1st Source Bank at 2020 E. Bristol St., at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 7. They located a vehicle they believed to be the suspect's getaway car later in the day.

Another alleged robber, 18-year-old Antwan Hasson Horton, was arrested on Thursday.

Police are still looking for a third suspect, 24-year-old Elkhart resident Andrew Gardner.
