Mishawaka woman taken to hospital after crashing car in heavy rain

The female driver hit a ditch and a fence around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

WAKARUSA — A Mishawaka woman was taken to Elkhart General Hospital Tuesday morning, May 13, after she was injured in a one-car crash near Wakarusa.

Around 5:30 a.m., Laurie Lanham was driving east on C.R. 40, east of C.R. 1, during heavy rain when her car went off the south side of the road and hit a ditch and a fence, a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department said.

Lanham had neck, shoulder and chest pain from the crash and was taken to EGH to be treated.

No citations were issued at the scene.
