Stabbing suspect from Elkhart arrested after Saturday morning incident

Police found a 43-year-old victim at the Big Easy on Easy Shopping Place in Elkhart. He was taken to the hospital. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

Elkhart police have arrested a man in connection with a Saturday morning stabbing.

According to a news release from the Elkhart Police Department, officers were called to the Big Easy, 160 Easy Shopping Pl., at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, May 10 for a report of a fight with a possible stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a  43-year-old Michael Williams of Elkhart suffering from a stab wound. Williams was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested 34-year-old Melvin C. Dent, Jr. of Elkhart at the scene. He faces a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a knife or other cutting instrument, a class B felony.
