Man arrested after police find nearly 90 pounds of marijuana in van along Indiana Toll Road

    Indiana State Police found nearly 90 pounds of marijuana in a van that was driven by a Mount Vernon, Wash. man along the Indiana Toll Road.

    SHIPSHEWANA — A Mount Vernon, Wash., man was arrested Friday, May 9, after police found nearly 90 pounds of marijuana in his van.

    David Crane Pemberton was driving east on the Indiana Toll Road near the 111.8 miler marker when he failed to move his van into the next lane as he passed a toll road maintenance vehicle, according to a press release from the Indiana State Police.

    State Trooper Ted Bohner conducted a traffic stop on Pemberton's vehicle and became suspicious after talking with Pemberton. Bohner called a K-9 unit, which sniffed and alerted police on the van.

    Police searched the van and found numerous packages totaling 87 pounds of marijuana and 1,076 grams of marijuana wax.

    Police arrested Pemberton on preliminary charges of dealing in marijuana and possession of marijuana.

    Pemberton was booked at the LaGrange County Jail and bailed out on a $20,000 bond.
