Man airlifted to Parkview Hospital after two-vehicle crash near Syracuse early Sunday morning

    Two men were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

    According to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, 21-year-old Daniel Slone of Milford was driving a Dodge Neon southbound on U.S. 33 north of C.R. 50 near Syracuse at 2:49 a.m. Sunday, May 11, when he crossed the center line.

    Slone struck a northbound Suzuki driven by 59-year-old Stanley Pender of Syracuse.

    Slone was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of "non-incapacitating lower extremity injuries," according to the news release.

    Pender was taken to IU Health Goshen by ambulance with wrist and knee pain.

    Slone was cited for a learner permit violation and for driving left of center.
