Elkhart man taken to hospital after car and bike crash

A 52-year-old man says he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after he was hit by a car.

ELKHART — Police are looking for the driver involved in a crash just south of Elkhart that sent a bicyclist to the hospital Thursday morning, May 8.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department was dispatched at about 6:15 a.m. to Charlotte Avenue, just south of C.R. 20, for reports of a bike and car crash, according to a press release from the sheriff's department.

Timothy James, 52, of Elkhart, was riding his bicycle south on Charlotte Avenue when he was hit by an unknown vehicle. James was not able to give a description of the vehicle or its direction of travel, according to the release.

James' family took him to Elkhart General Hospital, where he was treated for an abrasion and a bump to the head.

No enforcement action was taken, according to the press release.
