NAPPANEE— A man was arrested for driving at speeds over 100-mile per hour speeds, almost double the speed limit.

Jared Miller, 24, of Bremen, was arrested on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated, being in possession of an open container and speeding Thursday, May 1.

Miller was driving 109 mph in a 55 mph zone at about 7:11 p.m. An officer from the Nappanee Police Department saw Miller driving on U.S. 6 and C.R. 11 traveling west at "an incredibly high rate of speed."

While conducting a traffic stop, the officer detected an odor coming from Miller that is commonly associated with alcoholic beverages. Following several field sobriety tests, a certified chemical test was taken, which resulted in .13 percent Br.A.C.

Miller was booked in the Elkhart County Jail.
