Elkhart police continue to investigate Wagner Avenue shooting

The Elkhart Police Department has not identified a suspect in a shooting Friday, April 25, on Wagner Avenue in which an 18-year-old was shot in the ankle.

ELKHART — The Elkhart Police Department is continuing to investigate a shooting that sent one person to the hospital last week but said no suspect has been identified.

Capt. Kris Seymore of the department's Criminal Investigations Division said the victim, an 18-year-old man, was walking in the 300 block of Wagner Avenue with a group of friends around 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 25.

Another group of people approached them, and someone in the second group fired a gun.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his left ankle and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital.

Seymore said the victim was unable to identify his shooter.
