Teen struck by car while riding bicycle suffers minor injuries

An Elkhart teen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle.

ELKHART — An Elkhart teen was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon, April 23, after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle.

According to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, the 15-year-old was struck as he rode his bicycle southbound across C.R. 10 at C.R. 15 around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

He was struck by a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 53-year-old Teresa D. Patterson, of Bristol, headed eastbound on C.R. 10. Patterson had a green light at the time of the crash, according to police.

The teen was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of cuts to his face and hands.

No citations were issued at the scene.
