Marathon gas station shooting suspect arrested by Elkhart Police

    Eric T. Talley faces two charges in connection with March 14 incident in which Tyrone R. Morris of Elkhart was shot in the hip at a Marathon Gas station on Hively Avenue.

    ELKHART — The Elkhart Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a shooting at an Elkhart gas station.

    Eric T. Talley, 26, of Elkhart was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, a class B felony, and illegal possession of a handgun, a class C felony, according to a news release from the Elkhart Police Department.

    Police were called to the Marathon gas station at 290 W. Hively Ave. just after 9 p.m. on March 13, 2014 for a report of a fight.

    They later located Tyrone R. Morris, 25, of Elkhart at a home in the 100 block of West Cleveland Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to his hip.

    According to Elkhart County Jail records, Talley was previously arrested on preliminary charges including possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
