Two-vehicle crash near Nappanee sends two to hospital

    None of the injuries seemed life-threatening, police said.

    NAPPANEE — Two men were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash north of Nappanee Thursday afternoon.

    According to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, 33-year-old Raymond Borkholder of Napanee was driving southbound on C.R. 9, crossing the intersection with C.R. 52, around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, when his Chevy Blazer was struck by a Saturn Aura moving westbound on C.R. 52.

    The Aura struck the left side of the Blazer and forced it off the roadway.

    The driver of the Aura, 24-year-old Lance Hall of Millersburg, had disregarded the stop sign and was issued a warning a the scene, arrocing to the news release.

    Borkholder was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with pain in his head, right knee and chest. 

    Ricky Schwartz, 38, of Bremen, a passenger in Borkholder's vehicle, was also taken to Elkhart General with pain to his stomach, chest and the left side of his body.
