ELKHART — A teenage girl was taken to Elkhart General Hospital after police say she was hit by a car while running across California Road near Elkhart Memorial High School Wednesday afternoon, March 26.

The girl was chasing a dog south across California Road near C.R. 3 when her right arm was hit by the passenger side mirror of a car headed west on California Road, Lt. Tom Love with the Elkhart Police Department said.

Injuries to her arm seemed to be the only injuries she suffered and they didn't appear to be life threatening, Love added.

Elkhart Truth reporter Sharon Hernandez contributed to this story.
