An Elkhart man faces as many as 150 years in prison after a jury found him guilty Wednesday, March 26, of robbery resulting in bodily injury, kidnapping, criminal confinement and carjacking charges.
Tyrone Winkleman's trial started Tuesday, March 25, and concluded Wednesday afternoon. It took the jury about 2 hours to reach a verdict.
The charges came from July 2013, when James Armagost of Tennessee stopped at an Elkhart Budget Inn. Armagost saw a man -- Winkleman -- bent over in the parking lot. When Armagost went to help him, Winkleman punched him in the face, then robbed and kidnapped him.
