South Bend police search for 18-year-old suspect following shooting

SOUTH BEND – Following a shooting that killed one man and injured another, police are on the hunt for 18-year-old Shyheem Jones.

Our news partner WNDU reported Jones was charged with the murder of 19-year-old Cornell Taylor on Wednesday, March 19. Jones knows police are searching for him and is considered armed and dangerous, WNDU reported.

The shooting, which took place in the midst of a large crowd during a fight, injured 20-year-old Brilan Williams and killed Taylor. The incident occurred in the 1800 block of N. Fremont Street in South Bend.

South Bend police have asked anyone with information about the shooting or Jones'  location to contact St. Joseph County Metro Homicide at 235-5009 or CrimeStoppers at 288-STOP.
