Police identify 19 year old killed in South Bend shooting

Cornell Taylor, 19, died following a shooting Tuesday night, March 18. Another victim, 20-year-old Brilan Williams, was released from the hospital.

SOUTH BEND – A 19-year-old man died after being shot in South Bend Tuesday night, March 18.

Cornell Taylor, 19, died after being taken to Memorial Hospital in critical condition. A second shooting victim, 20-year-old Brilan Williams, was treated and released from the hospital.

South Bend Police responded to shots fired in the 1800 block of N. Fremont St. just after 7 p.m. Tuesday. County Metro Homicide, which is handling the investigation, said a large group was gathered at the scene prior to the shooting. The unit said this led to a fight and gunfire.

County Metro Homicide is still investigating the shooting. Anyone with information can call 235-5009 or 288-STOP.
