ELKHART - A man was taken to the hospital after he was shot on Thursday evening on the south side of Elkhart.
Tyrone Robert Morris, 25, was shot at a Marathon Gas Station on the corner of Benham and Hively avenues. He is currently being treated at Elkhart General Hospital for a gunshot wound to the hip but his injury is not life threatening, according to Lt. Mike Sigsbee of the Elkhart Police Department.
Emergency personnel responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of West Cleveland Avenue in Elkhart. The call came in just after 9 p.m.
Sgt. Travis Snider, a shift supervisor with the Elkhart Police Department, said police were initially called to the gas station for reports of a fight between two men.
That's where Robert Morris was shot. He then drove himself to the 100 block of West Cleveland Avenue searching for help.
Police are still looking for the other man involved in the shooting.
