Concerns about a man misrepresenting himself as an employee of Comcast turned out to be a false alarm.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s department clarified the issue Wednesday afternoon.

Area residents had contacted the department on Tuesday with concerns that a man they believed to be acting suspiciously was going door-to-door in the Amber Meadows subdivision north of Goshen.

Police said Comcast officials indicated they did not have an employee working in that area.

But by Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff’s department indicated that Comcast had reached out to police and confirmed that the man is indeed an employee.

The sheriff’s department updated the case on its Facebook page at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Comcast officials stated that all sales representatives who work for them should be able to provide official identification and verification of employment information upon request, according to the statement issued by police.
