A fire at a Mishawaka apartment building Wednesday left eight apartments damaged but no one was injured, as reported by The Elkhart Truth's news partner WNDU.com.

Crews were called to Bercado Place at River Pointe Apartments shortly before 8 p.m. after neighbors reported smelling smoke coming from a second floor apartment. Residents of the apartment where the fire originated were not home at the time.

The Mishawaka Fire Department had the blaze under control by 9 p.m.

The apartments were damaged, mostly by smoke or water. The eight other units in the building were evacuated as a precaution.
