St. Joesph County police investigating possible assault
St. Joseph County, Mich., Sheriff's Deputies were called after a 31-year-old man was admitted to the LaGrange County Hospital with severe head trauma.
St. Joseph County (Mich.) Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a possible assault after a 31-year-old man was admitted to LaGrange County Hospital for severe head trauma Saturday night, Feb. 15.
The 31-year-old man is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Parkview Hospital, where he was flown for emergency surgery, a press release from Sheriff Bradley Balk's office said.
Earlier Saturday evening, deputies with the sheriff's department were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated man passed out behind Maria's Restaurant on U.S. 12 in Sturgis. When police arrived, employees of the restaurant told them the man had been taken home by family members.
The press release said that a few hours later, they were contacted when a 31-year-old man was admitted for severe head trauma. Through investigation, police learned that it was the same man from the call at the restaurant.
Police believe the man is a possible victim of assault and are investigating the incident. Police ask that possible witnesses or anyone with information contact the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department at 269-467-9045.
