ELKHART — Two women and a man were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash in the north side of Elkhart County Friday afternoon, Feb. 14.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department and Osolo Township Fire and EMS responded shortly after 3:30 p.m. to the intersection of C.R. 6 and Frederic Drive for reports of a crash.

Patrol Officer Jennifer Cortez, of the sheriff's department, said a silver Jeep Liberty was headed west on C.R. 6 when it crashed with a silver GMC Envoy that was headed east and about to turn north onto Frederic Drive. The silver Envoy rolled onto its side after the collision, hitting a green Pontiac Trans Sport that was stopped on Frederic Drive, north of C.R. 6.

Julieta Varela, the driver of the green SUV said she closed her eyes when she saw one of the vehicles heading toward her. Her husband quickly got out of their vehicle to see if he could help others involved in the crash.

Varela said her husband helped the people in the overturned vehicle out.

The condition of the three people taken to the hospital is unknown at this time.
