Goshen man treated for injuries after being thrown off moped

A Goshen man sustained injuries after he was thrown off his moped.

ELKHART — A Goshen man was taken to the hospital after he was ejected from his moped after hitting a patch of ice just south of Elkhart.

Emergency crews were called at about 3:27 a.m. to C.R. 45, north of Florence Avenue, on reports of a crash.

According to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, Douglas Slabaugh, 47, was riding a mo-ped heading northwest on C.R. 45 when he slid on an ice-covered portion of the roadway and lost control.

The mo-ped overturned and Slabaugh was ejected over the handlebars. Slabaugh fell on the pavement and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with injuries to his head, wrist and knee, according to the press release. He was treated and released, according to a hospital representative. 

No citations were issued, according to the press release.
