MISHAWAKA — The intersection of McKinley and Bittersweet Road has been reopened following a gas leak, according to St. Joseph County dispatch.

The St. Joseph County Police Department and the Penn Township Fire Department were on the scene Tuesday afternoon directing westbound traffic to Bittersweet Road and eastbound traffic to Candace Lane. According to Kathleen Szot, a spokeswoman with NIPSCO, the leak was caused by a snow plow hitting one of the company's gas regulator stations.

NIPSCO was called to the scene to attend to the gas leak, which was reported at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11.

St. Joseph County dispatchers confirmed shortly after 5 p.m. that all units had cleared the scene.
