Elkhart home catches fire in early afternoon

ELKHART – A house caught fire in Elkhart Sunday afternoon, Feb. 9.

The fire, which occurred at a residence located at 25786 N. Park Ave., broke out around 1:35 p.m.

Mike Smith, Osolo Township Fire Department Battalion Chief, said the fire was contained to the outside of the house and firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in about 30 minutes.

Smith said there was probably less than $1,000 worth of damage to the house. No one was injured in the fire,

Fire units from the Osolo, Cleveland and Bristol township departments responded to the incidence.

The cause of the fire was unknown as of Sunday afternoon.
