Identity released of Goshen man killed in LaGrange County crash Wednesday

An Elkhart County man was killed in a crash on U.S. 20 near 600 W early Wednesday, as reported by WNDU.com.

The man killed in a LaGrange County crash this morning has been identified as Harvey S. Borntrager, 72, of Goshen, according to a report from the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a site on U.S. 20 near 600 W. at 6:20 a.m., as confirmed by the LaGrange County 911 Center. Borntrager was driving southbound on 600 W. in a 2006 Chevy truck when officials say he ran a stop sign and crashed into the side of a dump truck that was heading west on U.S. 20.

Borntrager was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by The Elkhart Truth's news partner WNDU.

The dump truck caught on fire but the driver, identified as 56-year-old Elmer Yoder of LaGrange, escaped without injury.

The crash remains under investigation.
