Two-vehicle accident hospitalizes four

ELKHART — Four people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident Friday, Dec. 13, on Elkhart’s east side.

A car driven by Payton Yoder, 16, of Bristol, and an SUV driven by Jerred Stone, 36, of Elkhart, collided at about 9:30 p.m. at the corner of C.R. 17 and C.R. 14. According to Patrolman Matthew Walsh of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened as the car, which was southbound on C.R. 17, turned left into the path of the SUV, which was northbound.

Three passengers in the car were hospitalized — Rodney Yoder, 46, of Bristol, and two children. The children were taken to Elkhart General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries while Yoder was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

A passenger in the SUV, Courtney Lovett, 26, of Elkhart, was taken to Elkhart General.
