ELKHART — A man was taken to the hospital Friday evening after motorists found him lying on the side of the road.
Police and medics were called to the railroad underpass in the 700 block of Richmond Street shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Sgt. Scott Hupp of the Elkhart County Police Department said a driver was traveling south on Richmond after dropping children off at the Elkhart Central High School football game when they saw a man lying next to the underpass wall on the west side of the road and called 911.
The man told police he had been struck by a car and did not know how long he had been in the road, Hupp said.
Hupp said the man showed no obvious signs of injury and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.
