GRANGER —The body of a 17-year-old girl was found inside a home after the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department (ECSD) responded to a 911 call Saturday night, Nov. 2.

Police were called to 29482 C.R. 1 in Granger at approximately 11:18 p.m., ECSD Captain James Bradberry said in a press release.

Responding officers found the girl’s body inside of a bedroom and the girl’s death “appeared suspicious,” he said. An investigation is ongoing. The Elkhart County Coroner’s office and the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s office are assisting in the investigation.

While on scene at the home, Bradberry said officers arrested a person of interest on unrelated charges.

The girl’s name will be released once her family is notified, Bradberry said.
