Elkhart Sheriff’s department seeks robber who attacked woman in her garage

ELKHART — The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed robbery in the Orchard Ridge neighborhood in Concord Township and asking for the public’s help in catching the robber.

Capt. Jim Bradberry said the department responded at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, to a home on Appleseed Court.

A woman told police she had returned home and was approached in her garage by a white male with a gun. After a struggle, the robber took the woman’s purse and left in a dark-colored passenger car, Bradberry said.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the victim suffered two black eyes, a broken hand and several contusions to her ribs, and she required stitches to her face.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 130 pounds. He wearing a dark sweatshirt and blue baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 891-2300.
