ELKHART — Police officers found a meth lab in an Elkhart apartment last weekend after a neighbor reported a strong chemical odor in the building.

Elkhart Police were called to 415 N. 2nd Street around 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, and determined that the odor was coming from apartment A, said Lt. Mike Sigsbee.

The officers entered the apartment and found a “small self-contained methamphetamine lab,” Sigsbee said.

No one was in the apartment at the time the lab was located.

Sgt. Bryan Shroth said the department’s drug investigations unit continues to investigate the incident.
