ELKHART — Two people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Prairie Street and Indiana Avenue Tuesday evening.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at 7:29 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and closed the intersection temporarily to investigate the accident.
Sgt. Scott Hupp of the Elkhart Police Department said witnesses told police both vehicles were driving on Indiana Avenue and had a green light at the time of the crash.
A red Honda sedan was driving westbound on Indiana and was attempting to turn left onto Prairie Street when the driver stopped to allow a group of pedestrians to cross Prairie.
A gray Toyota sedan was driving eastbound on Indiana and struck the red sedan as it paused in the intersection.
The driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with a complaint of chest pain, Hupp said.
The driver of the Toyota would be taken to the hospital by a relative to be checked out for pain to her right hand.
