Police continue to investigate home invasion

ELKHART —Police are investigating a home invasion that happened Monday evening, Oct. 7, in the south side of Elkhart and that sent two people to the hospital.

Elkhart police and emergency medical personnel were called at about 8:40 p.m. to the 500 block of West Herrold Avenue to reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the foot and a man with an injury to the head. Both were taken in by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital, and they are expected to recover from their injuries, according to a press release from the police department.

A girl was also present in the house during the home invasion. She was not injured.

Capt. Kris Seymore, head of the criminal investigations division, said multiple people entered the residence. However, he said he could not go into details about how they got in or the exact number of suspects in the case and their description because of ongoing investigation.
