ELKHART — A woman was shot during a home invasion Monday evening, Oct. 7

Elkhart police and fire units were called at about 8:40 p.m. to the 500 block of Herrold Avenue to reports of a shooting.

A woman was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a gunshot wound to her foot. A man who was hit in the head was also taken to the hospital.

The two adults and a young girl were the only people in the house Monday evening when the home invasion happened, said Sgt. Travis Snider of the Elkhart Police Department.
