ELKHART — A jury found an Elkhart man of child molesting following a two-day trial in Elkhart Superior Court 3.

Corday Dixon, 28, was convicted Sept. 24 of one count of child molesting as a Class A felony and two counts of child molesting as a Class C felony. He faces up to 50 years in prison.

According to evidence presented in the trial, Dixon was living at the home of a 12-year-old girl when the offenses happened in May 2010.

The victim testified, telling jury she slept in the living room, and because Dixon hurt his foot she offered the couch to sleep in.

He instead suggested they shared the couch, and he sexually abused her during the night.

Dixon attempted to molest her a second time after that.

The incidents were investigated when the child sought advice from a friend her age, who told her to tell an adult.

Judge George Biddlecome scheduled Dixon’s sentencing hearing Oct. 17.
