ELKHART — Elkhart police are investigating two weekend shooting incidents after the victims arrived at Elkhart General Hospital.
The first victim, a 14-year-old boy, told police he was walking in the area of Prairie and South Main streets between 3:30 and 3:50 p.m. Friday afternoon, Sept. 13, when he heard gunshots and felt a stinging in his hand.
He arrived at Elkhart General with a gunshot wound to his hand and hospital staff called the police.
The teen told police he did not see the shooter and had no idea who would have shot him.
The second victim, Alonzo Romell, 32, was brought to Elkhart General just after 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, by a woman who he then told to leave.
Police said Romell had suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was extremely intoxicated and uncooperative with the officers taking his statement.
