GOSHEN — Eight people were injured early Sunday afternoon after a two-car crash at the intersection of S.R. 119 and C.R. 13, just southwest of Goshen.
According to a release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Mandolin L. Belke, 15, of Elkhart, was stopped on C.R. 13, heading north at the intersection as another vehicle driven by Jon D. Stahl, 59, of Wakarusa also approached the intersection while driving northeast on S.R. 119.
Belke began to drive north across S.R. 119 directly in front of Stahl’s vehicle. Stahl’s minivan hit the driver side of Belke’s pickup truck, causing both vehicles to roll over.
Belke and her passenger, Marque A. Belke, 51, were taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital to be treated for a cut on the head and neck pain, respectively.
Stahl also suffered a cut on the head and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital.
Stahl’s vehicle was also carrying Judith Stahl, 58, Amanda Stahl, 24, Gabrielle Stahl, 2, Jeremy Stahl, 22 and Alexa Oberholzer, 21, all of Wakarusa.
All five were also taken to Elkhart General Hospital.
According to the release from the Sheriff’s Department, all injuries were considered non-life threatening.
Mandolin Belke was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way at an intersection.
