Two hurt when car hits tree after striking St. Joseph Valley Parkway median

ELKHART — Two women were hurt in a one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon, July 14, on the U.S. 20 St. Joseph Valley Parkway.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigators said Brook Foster, 31, of Elkhart was eastbound on the parkway, west of S.R. 19 east at 3:57 p.m. Foster lost control of the vehicle, struck the median wall, traveled across two lanes of the road, through a creek and into a tree.

Foster was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with several broken bones on the left side of her face.

A passenger in the 1998 Ford Escort, Vanessa Osoria, 28, of Nappanee, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a cut to her right leg and head pain.

The accident remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Crash Investigation Unit.
