ELKHART — Six people, including three minors, were injured in a chain reaction crash involving five vehicles west of Elkhart Saturday afternoon, July 13.
Four vehicles were stopped facing eastbound on C.R. 6 east of C.R. 10 at approximately 3:20 p.m. A 17-year-old Elkhart girl was driving eastbound and saw that the vehicle in front of her was stopping, but she was unable to stop in time, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. Her vehicle collided with the back of the second vehicle, causing a chain reaction crash into the third, fourth and fifth vehicles.
The teenage driver of the first car and her two passengers, a 14-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl, as well as both the 48-year-old male driver and 54-year-old female passenger in the second car were taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The teenage driver was issued a warning for speeding, according to the crash report.
