ELKHART — The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is looking for at least two suspects who escaped following a car chase early Tuesday morning, July 9, in Dunlap.

Lt. Travis Adamson of the sheriff’s department said at about 1:45 a.m. a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on two vehicles near Sunnyside Avenue and Kendall Street.

The cars drove south on C.R. 45, said Adamson. A report from the sheriff’s department mentioned that the vehicles drove through several yards and fences until one vehicle crashed into a tree at Cole Street and C.R. 45.

The driver of the second car parked it near the crash and the occupants of both cars ran from the scene, according to the report.

Adamson said the incident is under investigation.
