SYRACUSE — Marshall Dillon, 18, of Goshen, was trying to dock his boat on Lake Wawasee around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 7, when the boat accelerated out of control and went airborne onto land.
Riley Wagner, 16, of New Paris, a passenger on the boat, was thrown out and landed on a road approximately 50 feet away, according to Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Law Enforcement. She was taken to a IU Health Goshen hospital with serious injuries. The hospital reported Monday that Wagner was treated and transferred to another hospital. She was in stable condition when she was transferred.
Indiana conservation officers said that Dillon’s boat had a mechanical failure. The boat and the property where it landed were damaged.
Indiana conservation officers were assisted by Syracuse Police, Fire and EMS departments.
