ELKHART — A late Friday fire on the south side of Elkhart has left its residents temporarily without a home.

According to a press release from the Elkhart Fire Department, firefighters were called at about 11:41 p.m. Friday, July 5, to 2007 Morton Ave., where they found the front side of the two-story house engulfed in flames.

Firefighters tackled the fire from the front side first and then moved to the second floor to extinguish the fire from inside.

After 45 minutes, personnel five engines and one ladder truck had the fire out.

No one was injured, including the occupants of the house, Greg and Tina Donely, in the fire, according to fire officials.

A fire inspector determined the origin of the fire was the front porch on the first floor. He estimated the house received about 60 percent of damage. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
