GOSHEN — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash Thursday, June 27, on S.R. 15 at Michigan Road.

Justin Gorball, 39, of Elkhart, was driving behind Ronda Baer, 46, of Goshen, north on S.R. 15 south of Michigan Road at 12:56 p.m. Gorball told Elkhart County Sheriff Department investigators that an empty soda bottle rolled underneath the accelerator. Gorball said he took his eyes off the road while reaching for the bottle. When he looked up, he crashed into Baer’s vehicle, which had stopped on the road to make a left turn.

Baer was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital complaining of neck pain. Gorball was not injured.

Baer’s vehicle, a 2004 Dodge Dakota, had extensive rear-end damage while Gorball’s vehicle, a 2002 GMC Sonoma, had extensive front-end damage. No citations were issued.
