ELKHART — The Elkhart Police Department is investigating a report of a possible home security scam in the area.

On Monday, June 24, two men wearing white shirts went to a home on Strong Avenue that was equipped with a security system. The men told the resident they were there to upgrade the system, according to a police news release.

The resident did not believe the men and did not allow them to enter the home.

The men left the area and the homeowner called the security company. The company said the two men were not employees of the company.

“This is a reminder to always check the identification and credentials of anyone who may want access to your home, property or business,” the release said. “If in doubt, contact your local police and the company the person(s) claim to be representing.”
