Jimtown search

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department called in assistance from Elkhart Police and Indiana State Police to search a Baugo Township neighborhood for an escaped juvenile.

ELKHART — Police closed several roads in a Baugo Township neighborhood Tuesday morning to search for a juvenile wanted for a probation violation.

Capt. Jim Bradberry of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department said the 17-year-old boy fled from a sheriff’s officer on Tuesday, June 18.

Elkhart County dispatchers said the call for backup came in at 11:22 a.m. Officers from the Elkhart Police Department and Indiana State Police responded with K-9 units to assist in the search.

Witnesses reported seeing as many as 40 officers in the area of Spring Avenue and Fountain Row between West Indiana Avenue and West Franklin Street.

The boy was located and taken into custody. Officers cleared the scene at 12:18 p.m., according to dispatchers.
