GOSHEN — A woman arrested last week on preliminary charges of dealing in marijuana and cocaine accused her boyfriend during a police interview, and denied having dealt any drugs herself.

Danika Williams, 20, of Elkhart, appeared for her initial hearing Thursday, April 4 in the Elkhart Circuit Court. She has been formally charged with dealing in cocaine, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of more than 3 grams of marijuana.

Jereme Coleman, 31, Williams’s boyfriend and co-defendant, was charged with one count of dealing in cocaine and three counts of dealing in cocaine within 1,000 ft. of a family housing complex.

According to the probable cause affidavit on her case, a short-term investigation led police to conduct a search warrant March 26 at Williams’s residence.

During the search, police found 74 grams of individually packaged marijuana in the kitchen and 110 grams of separately packaged marijuana in a bedroom closet, according to the affidavit.

Police also found 50 grams of crack cocaine individually packaged in 14 clear plastic bags. The bags of crack cocaine were found in a false can of tea in the refrigerator. Police found more than 250 clear plastic bags with missing corners throughout the apartment.

During a police interview, Williams said Coleman was known to sell marijuana and that “crackheads” would often come to her apartment looking for him.

She said she did not know about the crack cocaine that was stuffed in the tea can in her fridge. At the time of the search, Williams was alone in her residence.

Coleman was arrested on March 28 at 1200 Burr Oak, in Elkhart.

Both Williams and Coleman were appointed an attorney from the public defender’s office, and both asked for a bond report. They are both booked at the Elkhart County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

Their trial is scheduled for July 8.
