GOSHEN — A domestic disturbance reported in Goshen turned into a standoff Saturday afternoon, March 30.

According to a press release from the Goshen Police Department, an officer was flagged down by Cathlene Piche-Randolph, 49, who said she had been a victim of domestic battery. The suspect, 48-year-old William Hogendobler, had barricaded himself in at 306 N. Main St.

Goshen Police department crisis negotiators communicated with Hogendobler as the Goshen Police Emergency Response Team tried to find an entry into the home.

At about 7 p.m. Hogendobler was convinced to surrender without further incident. He was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital because police believed he had consumed a large amount of “an unknown narcotic.”

Officers from the police department aided Piche-Randolph until paramedics arrived at the scene. She was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hogendobler was arrested after he was released from the hospital and was booked at the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of domestic battery, violation of protective order, intimidation, interfering with the reporting of a crime, strangulation and an outstanding Elkhart County warrant.
