Elkhart woman arrested for dealing in methamphetamine
ELKHART — A woman was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing in cocaine following a four-month investigation by the Elkhart County Interdiction and Covert Enforcement Unit.
Tina Estes, 40, of Elkhart, was arrested around noon Wednesday, March 20, at her residence on the 900 block of Fremont Street.
According to the probable cause affidavit for Estes’ case, the Elkhart County ICE Unit started its investigation in October after a cooperating source told investigators Estes was manufacturing methamphetamine in her residence and was offering to sell.
The source and an undercover officer met with Estes to make a purchase a few times between October and March before obtaining a search warrant.
The controlled purchases were handled at a gas station on the southwest side of Elkhart and at Estes’ residence.
While serving the search warrant Wednesday, police saw several adults and two children in the residence. They also found drug paraphernalia, spoons, hypodermic needles, spoons with white residue, scales, marijuana residue and small plastic bags.
Estes has been booked at the Elkhart County Jail on a $150,000 bond. According to the probable cause affidavit, Estes is scheduled to appear for a hearing in Superior Court 3 on March 28.
