Crime Stoppers offering reward for information about 1998 Elkhart homicide

ELKHART — Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 in cash reward for information regarding a 1998 homicide in Elkhart.

An acquaintance of Harvey Smith, 63, entered his home, 56200 Riverdale Ave., to check on him and found him dead on the living room floor, on the evening of March 16, 1998. When police arrived, they found that Smith had been preparing a meal when he was attacked and there was no sign of forced entry to the home. Autoposy results showed that Smith died from stab wounds to his upper body.

Smith owned Smith Auto Sales on Cassopolis Street.
